General growing condition of tulips crop 2011 Posted on 07-06-2011 at 11:21

The growing condition for the tulips seems to be a little difficult this year until today. We have dry weather the whole spring, already since the beginning of March. Moreover, the temperature has been higher on the average already since January. Nature in Holland is approx. 2 weeks earlier than in an average season so far. It is too early to make a definite expectation about the harvest results concerning the growth of the bulb size and the number of size 12/+, 11/12 cm and 10/11 cm per ha. This depends very much on the weather in the coming 3 to 4 weeks until harvesting. It also depends on the variety, grower, growing area, etc. So far the weather forecast expects still dry and sunny weather for the coming weeks. We will keep you informed.
