Selecting tulips

  • Posted on Wednesday, March 15, 2017

The sun is shining, the temperature is rising, and the tulips are emerging from the soil again. Therefore we have started to select the tulips again. In doing so, we drive a truck over the planted beds. Each tulip that deviates from the normal image, mostly caused by a virus, is removed immediately. This action is repeated multiple times during the growing season. This way, we try to keep the lots suitable for export to every country. Each lot is checked by the Flower Bulb Inspection Service (Dutch: Bloembollenkeuringsdienst; BKD). They make sure that it is centrally recorded, and issue the certificates for this.
