Damage caused by fungus Plants do not come out of the soil and show a poor vegetation. The disease occurs on several spots in the field or spreaded. Bulbs scales are grey or black colored. Also the roots and the parts of the stems underground are very often black and shrink finally. On the infected parts of roots and/ or stems flat black sclerotia are found.On the soil and between the scales very often you can distinguish mycelium. After the bulbs are harvested, the color of the scales turn into dark grey and become soft.Diseases: Sclerotium wakkeri (Fungi)
