Damage caused by fungus The sprouts do not grow, or produce a short or weak plant, of which the flower buds can dry up easily. The cause is an affected bulb base (bulb rot) or rotted scale tissue (scale rot). All kinds of nuances between bulb rot and scale rot are possible.Diseases: Bulb- and scalerot (Fusarium and Cylindrocarpon) 
Sometimes you can see spots on the stem. In this case the leaves turn into yellow from the bottom to the top of the stem. The disease spreads into the inside of the stem and finally the plant dies.
