Damage caused by fungus The plants remain behind in their growth and sometimes fade suddenly. The leaves turn yellow, starting from the bottom of the stem. A purplish brown spot appears on the base of the stem. The infected stem tissue shrinks, and the stem often breaks on that spot, which is not hard.Diseases: Foot rot (Phytophthora species)
